Thoughts on VC coming to Orlando

Wow, yesterday was quite a day. First, Shaq joins LeBron in Cleveland. There is no doubt that Cleveland's trade is a direct response to how much Dwight dominated Cleveland's bigs during the playoffs. Next, Farrah Fawcett dies. Alright. Then Michael Jackson. Alright. Then word comes out Orlando pulled off a crazy trade, sending Rafer, Battie, and Courtney Lee to New Jersey for Ryan Anderson and Vince Carter. Wow, it's safe to say that there are plenty of opinions on this deal.

Here is just a sample of some opinions on the Internet:

I don't like this deal. Maybe it makes us better for a year or two but several things bother me about this deal. How much gas does Vince have left in the tank and can he stay healthy?

What a terrible trade. Guess it will be 10 more years until the Magic see the finals. Courtney Lee will haunt the Magic for years.

There are undoubtedly a lot of unanswered questions.

1. The Magic only have 8 players under contract. Dwight, Rashard, Vince, Ryan Anderson, Pietrus, Jameer Nelson, Anthony Johnson, and JJ Redick. Who are the other players going to be?

2. Is this really the end of Hedo in a Magic uniform? Otis said that it would be very difficult to resign Turk. Will he still try? Will the market be there for Hedo to get the money he wants? If not, might a sign and trade be possible?

3. Will the Magic go hard at re-signing Gortat? How does this trade change things?

4. Who is Ryan Anderson? Well, the rookie out of Cal had a productive year. In starting 30 games and appearing in 66, Anderson averaged 7.4 points and 4.7 rebounds a contest. The 6-10 big man can shoot the 3, which SVG loves, as he hit 69 3 pointers at a 36.5% clip.

5. How different will this team play next year? Will they still spread the floor and play inside-out?

6. What will the starting lineup be? Jameer, Carter, Lewis, Anderson, Howard? Will a starting PF be brought in? Gortat at the 4?

I am reserving my judgement until Otis finishes up his offseason, but there is one thing I can certainly say: Orlando isn't done.

And finally, congratulations to UCF's Jermaine Taylor on being selected #32 by the Washington Wizards! Taylor was then traded to the Houston Rockets. Best of luck JT!
