Game 6 of the Magic-Sixers could have all about the "tale of two elbows". One that got All-Star Dwight Howard suspended and the other that fractured the Sinus of super rookie Courtney Lee, knocking him out of the playoffs for a minimum of a week. Both of these elbows belong to Dwight and neither were in attendence thursday night, instead they spent the evening in a nearby hotel with their owner serving out the suspension.
Missing two key starters on the road (three if count Jameer Nelson), no one would have blamed the team if they had dropped game 6 in short order to get back on the plane and head home for a game 7. It was a pleasant surprise to even Magic fans to see this team not only come out fired up but also put a pounding on Sixer team that had given the Magic much more trouble than was expected throughout the series.
Without a doubt Rashard Lewis showed he deserved this years All-Star recognition by shouldering the load, running the offense, blocking shots and giving leadership and energy to team missing their young leader. He lead the team with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. When the Sixers double teamed he made quick accurate passes to open shooters like JJ Redick and Rafer Alston who combined to shoot 8 of 14 from beyond the arc. I have to give Magic coach Stan Van Gundy a pat on the back for recognizing and running the offense through Rashard rather than Hedo Turkoglu. Hedo usually assumes that role but has struggled all series on both ends of the floor matching up with Andre Iguodala. Instead he put Hedo on the other side of the floor effectively taking the Sixers best defender out of every play. The normally fiery SVG actually high fived Rashard upon pulling him from the already decided game, I think all of us "The Puns" wished we could have added our own high fives to Rashard and the whole team.

Last but not least you have to recognize the two players who stepped up and filled in admirably for our missing starters. "The Warlock" Marcin Gortat is unlikely to be much of a secret any longer, he easily outplayed Sixers big man Samuel Dalembert earning his third double/double in four starts this season. Often maligned and defensively challenged SG JJ Redick had what was easily his best night as pro by shooting 5 of 7 from three point land and playing solid defense against Willie Green and Lou Williams.
Good job to the Magic, enjoy your rest while Boston and Chicago duke it out in game seven!
