So beyond the meltdown against the Sixers the other big story coming out of Magic Nation is the fact that Marcin Gortat criticized Coach Stan Van Gundy in a polish newspaper sport.pl. One of the quotes by Marcin was "the nature of our coach, he panics very often during games." The story was published about two weeks ago but obviously has grown stronger with Sunday's loss.
Well my two favorite people not named Dwight Howard have met to clear the air. The Warlock claims that the story is 3 months old and he does not even remember it. Here is what Stan Van Gundy had to say as well. "I'm not going to spend much time worrying about it," Van Gundy said. "I talked to Marcin about it. I didn't like what he said, but I try to judge everybody by the total package, of what I know of them. I've been with him for two years. He's a guy with a great attitude. He's a great guy to coach and a good team guy. ... I say inappropriate things sometimes, too. When you're somebody who's talking every day, you screw up sometimes. I don't have any problem with Marcin."
I often take the international articles with a grain of salt because well I do not speak any foreign languages and I think it is to easy for them to translate into something that appears more volatile. Only the reporter who interviewed Marcin knows if he used the word that translates to panic and the other comments but we will never know.
What we do know now is that these two have hugged it out and Magic Nation can move forward to what will hopefully be a victory in Game 2.
